Today I would like to compare Twitter to a Manual Traffic Exchange.  Just about everybody knows twitter is a place to trade little blurbs of text with or without media attached to it with each other.  However, many may not know what a traffic exchange is.  The easiest definition of a manual traffic exchange is people sharing sites with each other and proving they are in front of their computer to view them.  If twitter were more like a traffic exchange the following would happen.

 

Every so often the icons in the top right would appear.  You would be asked to click on the matching icon.  This would prove that you are looking at twitter.

 

Obviously, twitter doesn’t need to do something like this because people willingly agree to receive the information from the people they follow.  But, what if it was just one giant pool of tweets and you wanted your tweet seen.  There would have to be some sort of a trade off system so everybody got their well deserved chance to be seen.

 

Wallah, after viewing one page you receive a credit.  That credit allows your page to be seen.
This is exactly what goes on in a manual traffic exchange.

 

Manual Traffic Exchange Target Market: Currently in manual traffic exchanges I see other traffic exchanges, online systems, tools, capture pages(list building), maybe a blog, and other odds and ends.  A lot of it has to do with online business.

 

This audience is motivated by wanting to get traffic to their website or advertisement.

The point of this is to show you how important the outreach to online business people on twitter is for the traffic exchange industry.

and the reverse is also true, online business people can see the value of traffic exchanges.

If you login and surf 100 pages at a Manual Traffic Exchange you quickly will understand the target market feel.

3 Quick Moves for Blab.im Social Media Success

I’ve been using Blab.im for quite a while now. Today we are going to cover three quick moves to get your message out there.

  1. Record your blab– Blab makes it insanely easy to record what you share.  After you start your blab it’s in the upper left to start and end your recording.  Your video will be stored for free.
  2.  Upload to Youtube– One click will upload your video to Youtube.  I love this feature.  After your show has ended just find your recorded show.  I just use the search box for “Legacy Hour”, the name of our show to find it.  I click on it and then on the left hand side I press “Upload to Youtube”.  Amazingly easy.
  3. Download the Audio from an Email from Blab– After recording your show and it has ended, eventually an email will arrive in your registered email with blab.  You can download the audio and video from here.  The audio is in mp3 format and you can easily upload it to a Podcast Site.

That’s it!  Three quick moves to get your message out with blab.

Do What You Love, and it’s the PLAN that follows

        Do What You Love, Plan, Execute, then the Money Will Follow

I’m biting off a pretty big piece of meat here.  It’s a very involved subject.  I think a whole book could be written about it, but, we’re just gonna keep it short.  I’ll also keep it geared towards our industry, however, it’s implications are far and wide.

People love to say do what you love and the money will followI think the statement is incomplete, confusing, and misleading.  It should be Do What You Love, Plan, Execute, then the Money Follows.

LOVE

Let’s take the example that you love playing the guitar.  First, you need to master what you love.  Not all people that practice very hard at the guitar will become virtuoso’s.  I do believe with a lot of practice that most of us will become really good guitar players.  Just as I believe that with practice, many of us can become really good at an online specialty(business).

PLAN

   Being pretty good at something is where business takes over.  Now how many connections do you have for the business.  Who do you know?  Do you understand that you have to go out and meet like minded people.  You need to go out and find a band just like you need to find a supportive group for your online business.  So go network, your business will thank you for it.

Next, you have to market yourself.  You have to promote.  In the beginning nobody knows about you.  This is why everyone is in selling whether they like it or not.  People buy you the guitar player or support You and Your online specialty.

DO

This is the take action part of the formula.  The journey of 10,000 miles starts with one step.  Don’t be afraid to make mistakes.  Everybody makes them.  Execute your plan.  A great quote I read “Vision without Execution is Delusion”- Author Unknown  So get out there and start your business!

Taking this to our industry of traffic exchanges etc.  What do you love about it?  Do you love collecting Hot Bucks? Then how can you bring value to others to share in your passion?  Maybe you want to collect email addresses and tell them where the best places are to find them. Maybe you will explain the different kinds and the leader board contest. Perhaps you love traffic exchanges so much you want to start your own. If so read all about our journey here.

Lists are So About Engagement! Get a Response

Earlier I was talking about meeting people where they are, where they are comfortable.
Use Different forms of social media because some people prefer a specific platform.
Also, as people use different forms they are more likely to run into you.
In addition, provide value to people that might potentially be on your email list.

Now for the golden moment. This is something very very big for someone new to online marketing to understand. It literally is not the size of your email list or amount of twitter followers. The reason is that if nobody is listening there is never going to be any action taking or sale. This is why you should strive to make a connection with the people you are working with. You should supply them with value.

1,000,000 email subscribers or 100,000 twitter followers with 5 action takers is bad

1,000 email subscribers or 1,000 twitter followers with 100 action takers is better

Meet People Where THEY are at & Cater to Your Strengths

Why even do social media as a marketer? Duh, that is where ton’s of people are and a good message can be spread quickly for free. Today we’ll talk about using multiple platforms to reach people. The reason we do it is we want to find people where THEY are comfortable and hang out. If people hang out on facebook then I need to be there. If it’s twitter then I need to be there. You get the point. However, at what point does it become too time consuming to try and be EVERYWHERE?

I currently am dedicated to Twitter and Blab, a video platform. But, I also have a presence on Facebook, Linkedin, and YouTube. Of course, I am probably at places not listed, but, this brings up the point. I shouldn’t try to be absolutely everywhere. It would cost too much time and not have enough return.

I am satisfied hitting the big ones and concentrating where I feel comfortable and strong. I encourage you to make a presence on the traditional social media platforms and to find where you fit in the best. It will help your business grow.

The Adopter– A person absorbs ideas of a top thinker then shows support.

Purpose:

1. Help us by presenting the top thinkers ideas in an easy to understand way.
2. Further ideas by improving them.
3. They may inspire others to give greater merit to a top thinker.

The Organizer– Simply takes material from top thinkers and adopters then organizes it.

Purpose:

1.  Helps us to find relevant, meaningful ideas quickly.

 The Consumer– The seeker of information and motivation.

Purpose:

1. A large audience that can be monetized.

   If you don’t ever do any work then you’ll always be a consumer.  It’s quite possible that in your field you will bounce between these roles.  The good news is that becoming a thought leader can be a faster process than it was before.  The reason is your ideas can be shared by social media(twitter, facebook, etc.) at a very rapid pace.

   Advertising and established followings are still strong, but, you can see how unique, helpful concepts can catch up or even pass up the traditional with word of mouth advertising(social media).

   Winning peoples respect and attention is the name of the game.  Aim for being the top thinker as much as possible.  If you can’t create then adopt and improve.  If you can’t adopt then organize for us.  Consume to help you do all the above.

The money is not in just consuming.

   The money is in producing creative, unique, helpful concepts and leading us with your vision.

Isn’t it All About Results for Your Business

Hi folks, I want to start off and show you how good a site is, List Joe. Note, I’m not asking you to believe this site is good on faith. Look at how we have done with it.

The reason I open with this is that the same owners, Jon Nastor and Bill Maloney are converting a traffic exchange to a mailer, Traffic Bonus. Frankly, I think mailers are their specialty. The Mystery of Social Media Followings Solved or Not?

*Please read further than my comic relief.

We will start off with some comedy.  Here is the quote I came up with today.

“Follow me on blab, twitter, and facebook and I will teach you how to increase your followers/reach”.  This answer is what social media experts understand lol.

and here is the answer: Strangely the answer is a repeat of my quote nearly:

“Ask people to follow you on blab, twitter, and facebook and you will teach them how to increase their followers/reach”

and then you give them the answer I just gave you 🙂

Now please politely follow me on the right hand side and we’ll work to solve all your marketing problems. I don’t currently handle psychological problems.

Authors Note: This was a poke of fun at social media EXPERTS.  I don’t claim to be an expert at social media.  Will I discuss it, yes I will.  It can be very effective for your business.  But, come on social media expert…?  The next big social media sensation is months away.  The experts will be brand new.  How can they be an expert?  The game can change in an instant.

Do I think that someone can be exceptional in what is currently being used, yes I do.  But, expert is never a word I would use to describe them.

Two Simple Rules of Social Media: Have conversations with people, you learned that in 1st grade right?  2nd rule: Provide information that helps people, you did your first report in say 5th grade?  Organizing information and making it useful to others is as easy as 5th grade.  However, when you go to write original, helpful information that is a step up, say 11th grade English class.

Online business is as hard as making the decision about what you will specialize in(your product choice).  Could be simple or hard for you to decide, but it’s a critical decision.

c. Social Media (Follow the 2 simple rules listed above or be shunned and exiled)
