Isn’t it All About Results for Your Business

The reason I open with this is that the same owners, Jon Nastor and Bill Maloney are converting a traffic exchange to a mailer, Traffic Bonus. Frankly, I think mailers are their specialty. They are making a big relaunch effort today and Bill has told me personally that they already had active traffic. The relaunch will create a surge to their existing traffic and I think you can make use of it to convert to sales.

The Mystery of Social Media Followings Solved or Not?

We will start off with some comedy.  Here is the quote I came up with today.

“Follow me on blab, twitter, and facebook and I will teach you how to increase your followers/reach”.  This answer is what social media experts understand lol.

and here is the answer: Strangely the answer is a repeat of my quote nearly:

“Ask people to follow you on blab, twitter, and facebook and you will teach them how to increase their followers/reach”

and then you give them the answer I just gave you 🙂

Now please politely follow me on the right hand side and we’ll work to solve all your marketing problems. I don’t currently handle psychological problems.

Authors Note: This was a poke of fun at social media EXPERTS.  I don’t claim to be an expert at social media.  Will I discuss it, yes I will.  It can be very effective for your business.  But, come on social media expert…?  The next big social media sensation is months away.  The experts will be brand new.  How can they be an expert?  The game can change in an instant.

Do I think that someone can be exceptional in what is currently being used, yes I do.  But, expert is never a word I would use to describe them.

Two Simple Rules of Social Media: Have conversations with people, you learned that in 1st grade right?  2nd rule: Provide information that helps people, you did your first report in say 5th grade?  Organizing information and making it useful to others is as easy as 5th grade.  However, when you go to write original, helpful information that is a step up, say 11th grade English class.

Online business is as hard as making the decision about what you will specialize in(your product choice).  Could be simple or hard for you to decide, but it’s a critical decision.

Guy Hits Hurdle Wrong Good for Viral Business?

As I address this subject further, you may be interested in a previous blog post on viral advertising.

Predictable viral word of mouth advertising begins with the vision of an individual or small group.  I mention the word predictable because a youtube video of a track runner catching a hurdle just the wrong way, if you know what I mean, is well, unplanned*.  Back to executing viral…

*Unless your a goofus that practices shooting a video of you acting like your messing up on a hurdle.  Which crazy enough, I might try if I thought it would further traffic exchanges.

Granted this only had 100,000 views but you get the point.

 

Now let’s look at the traffic exchange communities, the Cash Surfing Network and the Plus 1 Daily.  The passionate and knowledgeable people meet at webinars currently hosted at Blab.  CSN is at 6pm eastern Monday-Friday and P1D is at 4pm eastern Monday-Thursday.

CSN is headed by Marcus Wahl, Ken Locatelli, Rodney Hage, and Eric Goettman.  Plus 1 Daily is headed by Justin Ledvina, Jon Olson, and Tim Linden.  These are the individual/small groups that see a greater vision for the industry.

Now begins the reaching out process, the spread.  Obviously, there are people that support the webinars or what would be the point of doing them and members support traffic exchanges because that is what makes them work.  We greatly appreciate that support because we understand that without it, there is nothing.  These small groups of passionate supporters reach out to communities they are involved in and the growth process goes further.

Remember, you represent your community.  Might I add that it is value that attracts people and keeps the ball rolling.  Now let’s talk about the vehicle of our message.  We could open our door at home and yell, “Hey, have you heard about traffic exchanges?  They are really great!” but we would probably just bother our neighbors.  Instead, our target is more online as that is where our industry is hosted (I’m not saying that going to a live convention of marketers could not be a productive place to discuss traffic exchanges).

Online methods of reaching communities include facebook, twitter, g+, and linkedin.  These sites have tons of people using them and are full of micro communities.  People gravitate towards picking specialties within these sites and in business because small groups/individuals handle very specific topics well.

The seven of us mentioned above can’t reach every place that we need to be, but, a group can.  Use main stream social media, forums, message boards, emails, and anything that is your specialty, because a larger industry is one that will support your business.

Your Unsuccess isn’t because of Unavailable Traffic

As a surfer I can generate over 2,000 credits in an hour.  You can purchase 1,000’s of credits, especially at the Legacy sites, for the price of a cup of coffee. So getting enough traffic shouldn’t EVER be a problem.

Getting exposure in many sites shouldn’t EVER be a problem either. The Legacy Team Coop and Rapid Fire Ads are free traffic cooperation sites.  The members inside it work together to produce a diverse, spread out exposure to 100’s of sites.

What is more of a decision is what to advertise and how.  Your most important choice starts with affiliate product selection and/or Your Website.  Why?  It’s because all of your work promoting leads back to the proper selection.  Would you set up a lemonade stand with just an empty pitcher sitting there and walk all over town posting signs that your lemonade stand is open.  See what I mean?

Now how good of a sign are you going to post for your lemonade stand?  A 5 inch by 5 inch sign with sloppy letters lemonade stand open… No of course not.  Then don’t do it in traffic exchanges or mailers either.  If your new or not experienced then pay someone to design your advertisement.  You can pay from $6 to $50 or even more I’m sure to design one.  I’ll do a page(reasonable quality) for $6, only one per person, if your in a bind.  With experience you could use a program like Adkreator.

Guess what?  Even a reasonable splash page could do poorly.  It’s very important what the page looks like and what it says.  That is why there is easy tracking software to use, Trck.me.  Some advertising concepts might be specific to where your showing them.

Lastly, if you want to increase your results, participate in the community.  Make connections in traffic exchange chats, skype, facebook, and twitter with the like minded people in the industry.  People seeing your ad after they get to know you increases familiarity and potency of your ad.

Online Traffic Tools are Not Enough!

Just understanding your tools such as Adkreator, Trck.me, and Rocket Responder is not enough. Your gonna have to get your business mindset, model, or plan.  Maybe you have gotten your visual recognition out there  by using adkreator with your photo and name.  You have laid that foundation down that you are personable and fun to work with.  You have worked on introducing yourself and aligning yourself with good long term programs.  You are able to track what works and what doesn’t and your email machine is ready to crank em out.  But now what?

Now it’s time, if you have not done it already, is to think about the value that you are going to bring to your member, customer, or signup.  Why should I signup under you?  There are plenty of people out there ready to sign me up.  Are you going to be able to help me, do you know enough about the program in question to help me?  Are you going to have enough time to help me?  Here is how Adkreator can be helpful. I can easily brand a page with my photo and name letting people know they are signing up under me, which if you have done things right, your brand will let people know that you are going to be able to help them. Hot Look Hot Topic Hot Meat?

Well, it’s Summer here in Washington State so I thought the subject of the post appropriate.  Alright, back to business.  When asked recently what I suggest for someone new coming into the industry I mentioned having a squeeze page to build a list.  Let me explain why…  if your new I expect that your not ready to have your website because of a lack of knowledge.  You may lack funds and/or contacts.  Building a list has the advantage of offering you repeat sales, relationship building, and the ability to let everyone know if you ever do launch a website(even if it’s just a blog).  Easy steps 1. Join Adkreator and create your own squeeze page. 2. Join Rocket Responder and create an email series. 3. Advertise it at the Cash Surfing Network. Done!  Would you like listbuilding described in a Video. Eric Goettman did a great job on it.

Now back to the subject of this post. Get your design looking good. You will probably want to experiment with adkreator until you are good at it. In the mean time I will design a squeeze page for you for free IF you are going to build your list with the Cash Surfing Network. I ask that you give it a minimum of over 1,000 hits, don’t waste my time please. If you want to build your list with something else I’ll design the page for 6.00 and an adkreator logo small with your referral link to adk will be on the bottom of it. Get as Specific as You Need to Thrive!

Oh you know me, sometimes I’m busy in deep thought thinking about how to help people earn.  Today is on focus and the small business person.  Remember that’s what you are if your a one person business or a handful of employees.  In some people’s opinion, the traffic exchange, ptc, and mailer industry or each on its own is a niche(specific enough target audience) when you compare it to the whole internet.  I encourage you to look at this matter in detail.  How much competition is there on how big of project you are tackling.  Where is your sweet spot for action on what your advertising(goal)?  Do you need something very specific such as a squeeze page for a list that offers a free report on where to find the most Hot Bucks?  At this point in time you would have a monopoly on that because no one is doing it.  Or, can you handle a free report on the best traffic exchanges, mailers, and paid to clicks which there is certainly competition for.  What approach is best for you?  Maybe you prefer to try multiple projects to find what you like working with and what makes you the most profit, a little trial and error.  I hope this helps discover the best you and the most profitable!

Step 8: Targeting

Targeting is something to think about when you are trying to maximize your results.  It also might explain why you might be getting different results with the same splash page in different traffic exchanges and safelists.  Pay attention to whether a traffic exchange is very social, having a social chat, and focused on user experience with prizes and themes because you would want to gear your ads towards that for success.  An interesting example is click track profit badges.  Many enjoy collecting them so you might get a personalized badge to go along with your ad to gain attention, hence you are targeting them.  Maybe a more direct marketing message would work better in a different type of exchange.  If there are a lot of cash prizes in a te or safelist maybe you would like to outline something about a cash prize in your ad.

Another interesting observation is that you might find better results in traffic exchanges or safelists that tend to be a part of your networking group.  What a great reason to get to know more people and expand your networking group!

Step 10: Using Effective Safelists/Mailers

Today’s blog post is pretty simple.  It deals with using another effective traffic source in addition to traffic exchanges.  Here is a brief description of what a safelist/mailer is.  In a safelist, you agree to have your email address receive emails from other members of a safelist.  You can click on these emails and receive credits.  With those credits, you can email members of the safelist with your ad or website.  I highly suggest the safelists that are in brandmetool.com .

Don’t Forget About Banners!

I think it’s really easy to forget about banners or to believe that they are not worth using for many people.  It’s really a mistake for your business to ignore them.  To begin with, if your paying a designer for a banner it’s cheaper than a splash page.  Next, you will notice a big trade off per credit in a lot of traffic exchanges.  If you get into testing banners, a .02% click through is a low conversion for a click (and this is a low end performing banner), BUT, if your getting say 30 banners per credit then that adds up to .6%.  You just take 30 times the .02.  That’s pretty powerful math wise if you consider a plain splash page performs at .10%  Splash pages are powerful branders but don’t forget that you can easily place your picture along with your banner that you are showing.  If you need help with something like that brandmetool.com does it automatically for you.  So don’t forget about banners and your business will thank you.
