My Dad Said Internet Business was the List, I said Huh?

The Oldies Revisited and the New Era of 2016 Marketing

It was about 3 years ago when I asked my dad what he thought internet business was all about.  His answer was “It’s about the List.”  But, I didn’t get it.  I mean I really didn’t get it.  The reason is that I was making my money from traffic software.  Advertising purchases and upgrades were what internet business was all about.

My overall perspective changed to see the REAL VALUE OF A LIST and how it works intimately with a business.

The most common sense relationship exists with your company and the public.  Value given is rewarded with value back.  A business person is in contact with their list every time they send out an email, every time they write a blog post and a former reader returns, and every time they tweet or post on social media.

These moments of contact are the time to provide VALUE.  For it is here that the all powerful BRAND, the word we hear too much in marketing, is founded.

The Classic Forms of Contact with Your Current(List) and Prospective Customers Include:

Email Marketing: It is far from dead as some people may argue.  In fact, it’s the strongest, quickest form of advertising we have.  People opt in to emails and their email box waits to hear from you.  The conversation of emails is private only to these select people.  The list may be huge, but remember, it’s a private club.  It’s a great place to provide VALUE and build a relationship.  Treat your list with respect, be grateful, and value will be rewarded with value.

Best Article I have seen on List Building.  Best Article on Subject Headers.

Blogging:  It’s another classic item worth it’s weight in gold.  The blog is the place to put information value out there.  Cover things that surround your industry.  Your blog should be designed as well as your website.  This is also a place that you want to collect email addresses.  The name of the game is to attract new business and always to stay in contact.  Here are two tools to get your blog shared and set up for collecting email addresses.  Both are highly suggested.  Rocket Responder and Sumome.com  Sumome has some great FREE functions and Rocket Responder is a dream auto-responder.

Affiliate Marketing: Don’t over look what power your affiliates can have.  We have a strong affiliate program that we benefit greatly from and we are thankful for it.  We are more then happy to share our company profits with our hard working affiliates and you should too.

Banner Advertising: A banner can be placed almost anywhere.  Finding the right place to purchase banners can take some time and experimentation.  Just know that they can be incredibly cost efficient.  Don’t forget that even though banners can be small they still offer a chance to brand(show presence) by getting your logo and or picture out there.  Are you on a low budget?  Check out this system that offers free banner trading, Buckets of Banners.

Forums: I don’t do forums myself, but fortunately I have dug up some information on promoting in them.  If your interested in forum advertising check out these tips.

Search Engine Optimization:  My current feeling is that it can be quite expensive to achieve and maintain search engine position with a paid service if your on a low budget business.  However, if your developing a high quality site with creative marketing, google should be able to get it right and give your site the nod of approval.  Enjoy this short video on overall online success strategy which is followed by an interview with an SEO expert.  15:02 in is the SEO part if you want to skip ahead.  Big thanks to Clint from Olympiaseo.com for the interview.

Analytics: In 2012 the latest version of google analytics was released.  If you would like to signup for google analytics free you can do so here.  Here is a guide to getting started.  You can generate an insane amount of statistics that are sure to help your business here.

Finally, the big social media networks.  These are marketing gold.  I have already written on social media in 5 Proven Strategies to Small Business in 2016, 302 Million Reasons to Read this Blog Post, and The Viral Spread of a New Product or Action.

In summary, dad was right, internet business is in the list, but might I add dad, it’s also in a VALUABLE BRAND.  Hope you enjoyed it and it improves your business.

What Unthinkable Person Knows Your Business Future in 3 Steps?

Three Steps Sums up Your Business Startup Future

First They Ignore You– If you have any experience with opening a new business then you know that the first thing you have to do is establish yourself.  Nobody knows about you yet.  This is where it takes a large amount of advertising so that your visible.  If your on a limited budget then consider some creative work in social media.  Maybe consider a referral contest with the small base of members that you have brought in.  Mindset wise don’t get discouraged when people fail to recognize you.  As you’ll see, the whole process takes time.

Then They Laugh at You– Your out there killing it working hours and hours getting your message out there.  Some people will want to try and laugh at your efforts.  They are the ones that hope to be there when you fail so they can validate their sitting back on the sidelines is the comfortable, right place to be.  If you continue with your hard work they won’t be able to continue to laugh at you.  Then they will have to chalk it up to blind luck that you somehow succeeded when this couldn’t be further from the truth.

Then They Fight You– Sadly, if you find that some people are hating you then you’ve made a dent out there.  The side liners are giving you their final battle towards attempting to verify your hard work isn’t worth the time.  These people will find excuses for your success because they themselves don’t want to go through the process.

These people if they are serious about business should be focusing on what THEY are doing.  Instead, they are wasting their emotion on you and become content at sitting on the side lines.  Full of excuses, they then wait for the next start up to repeat the whole process over.

Then You Win.  If you have the ability to learn and keep going then I guarantee you will find your way to success.  Now that you know what to expect, your mindset can be all the stronger.  I hope it helps your business.

5 Proven Strategies for 2016 Small Business

We need to have something to sell if we are going to market.  I don’t care what your product is these concepts will make your business a success.

  1. We start with VALUE.  Whether it’s software, a physical product, or even information, this entire process is going to be easier the more VALUE you have to work with.  The company blog should be passing out useful information related to it that is of SHAREABLE quality.  Shareable means it stands out, has exceptional quality, or unique view points.

2. Now that we have value cooking it sets us up for SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING.  People like us to be helpful.  We can supply their needs for information which mainly should be helpful content mixed in with some, to a lesser extent, company updates.  Going for sales here should be rare because we our in a social channel.  If your lucky enough to have a community form around your company then SOCIAL MEDIA is great at strengthening the communication and bonds of it.  Listed below are popular social media channels:

A. Twitter

320 Monthly Average Users, Largest age group is 18-29 at 37% of users More Stats and Use Tips

B. Facebook

1.4 Billion Active Monthly Users, Largest age group is 18-24 at 36% of users More Stats

C. Snapchat 400 million snaps each day, 70% female 71% younger than 25 More Stats

D. View Stats on Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, and Linkedin View Here

Social Media Insight: By following good people they will be doing what we suggest, giving you good information.  It’s a great way to learn things and bond with like minded people.  Make sure you thank people for good information.

3. EMAIL MARKETING– You will be collecting emails from people signing up to your software, your company newsletter, and/or your blog.  Your excellent content can be passed out in your emails making it valuable to read them.  Even if you don’t sell anything in your emails, if people are looking forward to them, it lets them know you care and keeps your company in their mind.  Treat your list with respect, be grateful, cultivate a relationship with them, and you’ll be on your way to mastering it.

4. RELATIONSHIPS AND COMMUNITY– While the other branches are important, this is the most critical to your business.  There are many different personalities to work with and that can certainly be challenging.  Obviously, customer service enters the picture here because unhappy customers make for bad relationships.  You really should have a people person on board your company to represent you because of its importance.  If there are things you can do to encourage community, make it happen.  Work to develop loyalty.  Relationships are meant to be a strength of small business.

5. SALES– Now that you have done everything right sales shouldn’t be so difficult.  If no salesperson is there on potential purchases make sure your offers are well designed and easy to purchase.  Don’t be crazy and make it difficult for a person to spend money with you.  Sales are important, your business goes under without them.

Just put these strategies to work.  I’m sure by now your seeing how they all blend together into one complete piece.  I hope they help make your business a winner.

The Way Twitter Organizes Itself

A # or pound sign is used to break things into categories or conversations. So say we wanted to talk about this blog and have a conversation about it we would use #contentzoos along with our messages in our tweets so that we could easily track this conversation down with the search box

I view the # or pound sign system as a mini search engine as well We can expect people searching for say #blog to find tweets that we have put #blog in. For a tag that is that popular we would expect a lot of competition

Those are two big reasons to understand the simple adding of a # to whatever tag word you need.

What tag or # should we use for maximum search strength? Great question. A software developer thinks they have the answer. Check out Ritetag.com if your interested. I tried it out and I’m currently playing with it. It works to give you maximum and proper exposure in the # searches of twitter.

In summary, use twitter to accomplish some amazing things with networking and organic traffic. Take it a step further with Ritetag.com to maximize your #’s. There are 302 million reasons to do it!

You Have No Attention Span – 3 Ways to Market to Goldfish

Don’t worry if no attention span describes you. In many ways modern technology encourages us to be alert to multiple things quickly. All the different ways to communicate with someone takes its toll. It’s no wonder that our average attention span is going down.

The average attention span of a goldfish is 9 seconds!  Yikes.

8049391_s

See the full statistics break down at Statisticbrain.com

What challenge does this present to us as marketers? The obvious answer is get the job done fast.  Striking images, catchy text, and videos have always been important, but now it’s becoming harder and harder to keep someones attention. As long as your aware of the issue then you can spend more time focusing on the quality needed. The climate is asking you to step up and be creative.

3 Ways to Thrive in the Goldfish Market

1. Take the time to use very visual, catchy pictures.  A picture says a 1,000 words and people are wanting to consume information fast.

2. Use quality videos to capture peoples attention.  Make sure you bring them in fast.  A Study from the New York Times revealed 19.4% visitors to a video leave before 10 seconds.  It stands to reason it’s gotten worse.

3. What better way to fascinate people then with Live Steaming Video.  Take advantage of peoples love for video and pack a double punch by bringing them a live event.  With things like periscope and snapchat going crazy big you should get on the boat too.

Be ready for the big challenge in 2016 of adding visual master pieces, Hollywood quality videos, live action, and creative genius to market to a population of people that well… have the attention span of less than a goldfish!

The 1 Word All Great Business Owners Mastered

motivation picture decide

How could one single word be so powerful?  I’ll show you that, in fact, it is.

The word is DECIDE– Make a CHOICE from a number of alternatives.  Cause to come to a resolution.

This is a highly psychological matter that has real results.  It is when you DECIDE that you are going to make something work that the magic happens.  Vision is entirely necessary, but, it never becomes a reality without the DECISION of ACTION and PERSISTENCE.

I’m reminded of a recent quote I read “Vision without Execution is Delusion” and the recent bit I heard from Tony Robins, “When you burn the boat and jump on the island”.  It’s that time when you Decide there is no other way.  You go all in.  Your willing to do whatever it takes and it’s at that point that a future successful business owner is born.

Your goal becomes clear and outside support is no longer even needed.  Vision, Will, and Action are all pumping.  The business you have taken on is a part of you.  It all rests on one single word…

Are you ready to DECIDE that your going to make your business a success?

Power Marketing in 2016… Your Problems Demystified!

marketing in 2016

How Marketing Looked in Late 2015

  1. Original Content Marketing– Bloggers, magazines, company websites, etc. use how to’s, product release information, statistics, and interviews all to drive traffic in to raise brand awareness(a company’s presence), have back door products, and/or collect an email address.

2. Social Media Amplifies Your Message– With sharing networks like facebook having over a billion users, it is a fact that a good network will boost your exposure.  Making things easy to share and establishing a community means a lot of your marketing work is done.

Stunning, useful, original content is best, but, providing useful information to your like minded group is beneficial as well.

Here is What 2016 Will Look Like!

  1. The game stays largely the same, BUT, Video is big.  Video consumption online is huge and growing fast.  Plenty of statistics are out there to back that up.

2. In 2016 a growing importance will be put on Live Streaming Video with platforms that perform like Blab.  Periscope and Snapchat already have 100’s of millions of users!

HERE IS THE BIG REASON:  People want to connect, understand each other, see someone that doesn’t hide, and verify a person understands their subject.

Why? People yearn for the handshake, face each other style of business simply because we are social creatures.  We were made that way.  In addition, the spending of time on phones and computers only fuels the fire.  The need for human connection is there and we are supporting technology that brings us closer to it.

2016 is Yours!  Just be visible in video and don’t leave out live video!

Your in Social Media, But, You Don’t Know What This is?

The Next New Thing in Social Media is Right Around the Corner.  Yet, how many have overlooked a Traffic Exchange?

overlookedsocialmedia

The Definition of Social Media is: Websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking.

A Traffic Exchange is Social Media, even more so if it is equipped with chat.  To make a landing page(an ad that precedes your website or is a capture form), a service can be used such as Adkreator.  This can be useful if you don’t want to use bandwidth or worry about bounce rate(How long someone stays on your website).

A Traffic Exchange allows the user to share his content, website, or advertisement.  A user can purchase advertising and that is the end of it just like you can purchase tweet promotion. A user can also view others sites so that their site is seen in a trade off system.

Traffic exchanges mainly seem to target a potential new member to another traffic exchange, online marketers, or someone interested in online business.  Going outside of this target will present a greater challenge on your advertising efforts.

Are You Strong Enough to Be a Marketing Artist?

The marketing show is exactly what it is all about.  It is showmanship that sets mediocre marketers a part from great ones.

Any intelligent person can research content and put something out there for consumption to bring traffic in…

14661739_sBe a Marketing Artist!

However, it’s a marketing artist that makes content remarkable and has a chance at real viral activity.  I would like to include an article on 10x content and I would like to draw specific attention to Rand Fishkin’s 10x Content Article which states:

Criteria for 10X Content:

  • Provides a uniquely positive user experience through the user interface, visuals, layout, fonts, patterns, etc.
  • Delivers content that is some substantive combination of high-quality, trustworthy, useful, interesting, and
  • Is considerably different in scope and detail from other works on similar topics
  • Loads quickly and is usable on any device or browser
  • Creates an emotional response of awe, surprise, joy, anticipation, and/or admiration
  • Has achieved an impressive quantity of amplification (through shares on social networks and/or links)
  • Solves a problem or answers a question by providing comprehensive, accurate, exceptional information or resources.

Pay close attention to the words uniquely, considerably different, and creates.  The modern era of marketing is asking YOU to be an artist!  That’s good news because I was concerned being a marketer was selling my soul.  Not True!  YOU can be a marketing artist.

In summary, be on the look out for something you read and don’t forget see that really impresses you.  Get the essence from it, but, don’t copy it.  Instead think of developing your own style so your consumers can enjoy YOU, the marketing artist.
